I'm trying to install this mod on steam deck, Does anyone know how to do it?

Depths 1 and secret room music doesnt work as of 13/7/24, music volume is quieter than the original game music so its a quite jarring and hard to balance with SFX. not worth the hassle getting the mod to work just for this

Working for Repentance as of 4/23/21 (even without official mod support). Achievements still unlock. Should be a braindead install.

1. Download mod. Extract w/ WinRAR or 7-Zip. Make a copy of 'music' folder found inside. Ignore/delete any other files included.
2. Go into game files > resources > packed. Delete/move 'music.a' (move it back or recover it via Verify Integrity in Steam if you lose it or want to uninstall this).
4. Rename one copy of the downloaded 'music' folder to 'music.a' and place it into 'packed' folder of the game.
5. Place the other copy of the downloaded 'music' folder (unedited) in resources.
6. Like this comment, then launch and enjoy the old tunes on some floors/fights.

I'm also on this issue. Depths doesn't have music, the secret room doesn't have music, and the title music stays as its default as if it were unmodded.

Any tips on getting this working with Repentance? The unpacking method below doesn't seem to work.

Took me hours of tinkering (Rebirth version), hopefully my explanation clears up any confusion. Download this mod, extract anywhere with WinRAR/7Zip. Download Rick'sUnpacker (help section of this website) and unzip that too. Go to your game folder (/steam/common/tboirebirth/resources) and open the 'packed' folder. Drag 'music.a' on top of 'Gibbed.Rebirth.Unpack.exe' from Rick'sUnpacker. It should make 'music_unpack' folder after a delay. Two folders into that should be a 'music' folder with lots of .ogg files inside. Cut that 'music' folder and paste back into your '/resources' of the game's files. Now in 'packed' again drag 'config.a' onto the unpacker. Dig into the new unpacked folder and find 'music.xml' and put this in '/resources' with the 'music' folder. NOW copy the 'music' folder from the mod into '/resources' and overwrite any conflicts. DO NOT copy over the 'music.xml' from the mod, this made all music stop working in-game for me. Clean up any unpacked folders (including the leftovers .xml's from config_unpack) you made from the .a files and run the game. Voila

I found this also works with repentance if you take the music folder you just made for resources and just rename it Music.a and put it into the packed directory

Can you upload somewhere a file that someone could just drag and drop into the folder? The instructions you gave are hard to follow and i don't want to accidently mess up my copy of the game.

Seems people are having some trouble installing the mod. The readme is false, you have to do a couple more steps. Go to your installation folder, tools then use the resource extractor exe. Once unpacked, go to the resources folder and rename the packed folder to something else. Then drag and drop the contents of the mod folder into the resources folder, making sure to replace anything it asks you to. Bam, mod installed.

Found a fix for this as of 2018: Check that you are installing to the correct location of Isaac as found Steam > Local Files > Browse Local Content as opposed to installing in a separate copy of the game that is not launched by Steam.

Can someone post a folder example for what romaje is talking about? I unzipped the folder fine and other mods work fine. For the love of Isaac someone please fix this, so many people suffering without it.

I've tried several times to install this mod for mac. I am extracting the music, sfx, and music.xml files into my resources folder:

However, it is not working. I have tried to put the data into every other subfolder and nothing works.

Is there a different installation for afterbirth or is this not compatible with the mac version of the game.

Is the Rebirth version of this mod compatible with Antibirth? If it isn't, does anyone know how to edit Antibirth's files to use the WOTL soundtrack in place of the Rebirth music?

Yes and no. You can put it into the antibirth folder and it'll work just fine, but not without issues, like antibirth music having trouble loading and certain rooms (Planetariums) losing their music when using Original. It works, but it has some glaring issues that I or someone else should look into fixing.

I have a strange problem : when I'm in a room filled with monsters, there is the new eletric guitar theme while there is the original music in the back... odd.
Also, is that normal that the burning basement and else keep their music ? So this pack may not be used during greed mode ?

I have the same problem. I uninstalled Afterbirth+ (Because... you know... it's AWFUL.) But now the classic music mod no longer works. And the resource extractor is no longer there. Am I screwed?

I figured it out just run the resource extractor, be sure to rename the packed file (i named mine packed +) and install your mod, you will have to replace the existing music file and music.xml with the mods music file and the mods music.xml, one more important thing is to go into the games original music folder, take the afterbirth file out and put it into the mods music file so you will have new afterbirth content otherwise when you get burning basement ect you wont have music . Hope this helped because the original soundtrack is boss.

The readme is misleading. Extract the music.xml file and the music and sfx folders into your RESOURCES folder. Then it will work.

The final chapter of this comment trilogy: Listen to the pieces for more than 3 seconds. I didn't realize Unholy Assault was the name of the piece until I downloaded VLC and played the .ogg file that said "Danny Baranowsky - Unholy Assault." Sure enough, 11 seconds in I realize I'm an idiot.

Figured it out. If anyone else is having trouble, know that you have to extract the music and sfx folders into your main folder and the music.xml file into your resources folder.

Okay so, I answered my own question.

For those who want to know, you don't need to convert the mod. You just have to copy/past the files in the game directories through the fpt client, but don't copy the music.xml, you will end up getting no music at all (maybe because it has been updated for afterbirth which isn't available on vita YET).

Rebirth Issue: Sometimes in floors a extra set of instruments plays to be a bit more fitting in tense rooms, Problem is, it plays on top of the music that's playing. This is most apparent in cellar and chest rooms. Please fix

I do have one issue though, and that would be the guitar riff layer that occasionally plays. It's clearly meant for Rebirth's soundtrack so it sounds really out of place with the original's and I would like to know if it's possible to remove it.

As a longtime owner of the original Binding of Isaac, I have a soft spot for this music. I always found it as amazing music considering the circumstances within the game, Isaac is shooting tears to fight back from demonic creatures, and if that wasn't traumatizing enough for Isaac his mother nearly killed him. In short, I love the original soundtrack because of the memories in the old game, overall rate: 5/5

Wrath of the lamb is the DLC for the original game, if you're trying to ask if you need Afterbirth to use this mod, then yes, you do need it or the mod will cut all the music from the game...

It plays the rebirth depths intro before it plays the old depths theme, which is kinda annoying

Followed the readme instructions (Which just told me to unpack certain things into my Binding of Isaac folder, so I doubt I got the instructions messed up) but it hasn't replaced any of the music. I've tested by starting a Greed Mode and Hard Mode run as Isaac (I also held R until I had seen all basement floor variants on the Hard Mode run, just to be sure. Not greed mode though, that music never changes iirc) Help please? Pretty please? Pretty please with some smiles on top?

I fixed the problem myself after realizing the obvious problem. No, I didn't screw anything up. The readme actually caused the issue, it stated to just put the files in my Binding of Isaac: Rebirth folder, when you actually need to put it in the Resources folder that's INSIDE the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth folder. I tried to get another mod and noticed the discrepancy, so problem is all fixed now.

That being said, you should probably fix your readme file(s? I don't know if the optional readme is screwed up either, too lazy to go check.)

This mod makes me SO happy. It's not that ridiculon didn't do a great job, but DB's soundtrack has a deep, immersive, and more hopeless and imposing sounding soundtrack. Thank you for bringing it back for us!

Hi! Thank you very much for this.
I use the optional xml to keep afterbirth's music, and I find it strange to have the old satan fight music played in the mega satan fight, as well as having the old isaac/blue baby music (My innermost apocalypse) played when fighting Hush, and having sheol music in the Dark Room but I have no idea if it's fixable, if the music is tied to a set of levels and bosses.

I also found a bug (I guess), I get the devil deal jingle played when clearing a room containing Death's Heads.

Again, thank you very much for this mod.

I found that too, it's just the fact that they have the music that plays when you pick up a Devil item in Afterbirth/Rebirth, the same as the one that happens when you kill a Death Head.

I frickin love the original game's ost. Makes everything less heavy imho.

I have unpacked all the required files in Rebirth's root folder but it doesn't work. I still have Rebirth's music on all levels (I am playing with Afterbirth). Any idea what I might be doing wrong ?

Well, IIRC Danny Baranowsky doesnt allows his soundtracks to be used without his permission, and he didnt worked in Rebirth/Afterbirth, so Edmund & Tyrone dont have legal permission to use his songs.

By "unpack" he just means extract from the .zip archive. I extracted all files to the root directory (then deleted the optional folder) and then extracted all files to the resources directory (and again deleted the optional folder). That worked for me. Hope this helps!

This is a great mod that does exactly what it says, but I do have a bugs:

-It seemed to have slightly messed with graphics; pickup animations turn me invisible (though that may be because of another mod I have)
-In Necropolis, sometimes the "You just took a devil deal" music will play upon finishing a room.

1.This mod does not touch the graphics at all. It must be another mod.
2.This happens when you clear a room with Death's Heads. They use the same sound as taking an item in a devil deal. There is nothing I can do about this. If you want to get rid of this then delete the sfx folder that came with this mod. But keep in mind that this will also return the devil deal sound back to normal.

Oddly, this seems to cause intense lag as of the latest patch. I'm running linux, so I'm not sure if it happens on windows too, but I'm wondering if the music.xml changed.

Oh, and for linux, you need to decapitalize everything. No capital letters in filenames. Case-sensitivity and all that.

Back last November this would have been a must have, but now, over a year later, (Jesus, has it really been that long since Rebirth?) I've kinda gotten used to the new music. Still though, it brought back a lot of memories, (Of me wasting time) so I think this is a great mod.

I'm having an issue trying to get this to work. After I extract the files to the resources folder, upon starting the game, no music plays at all. I checked if my music and SFX settings were low, but they were both maxed out. SFX I'm still able to hear, but not music. Any idea what could be wrong?

Works very well, even with Afterbirth. One small bug though: sometimes upon clearing a room, the pact sound plays (like taking a devil deal). I only had this happen on the womb and sheol. It also, though really rare, sometimes happened randomly while clearing a room

Can confirm this bug. I had it on more floors then OP, had it in depths as well. I believe it is when the invulnerable skull monster is on the screen and you kill the other minions. Hope the author can fix it.

You just drag the music folder to resources and that's it, if it asks you to replace files, replace them.

It doesn't work.I do everything in what was written in redame but the music is from rebirth.

Put all files into resource folder too.
That include xml too.

I've been thinking about doing something like this myself, but I'll just thank you right now for doing this. Rebirth may have better graphics, better loading, more items, enemies, and bosses, but the "soundtrack" is just a collection of noises to me, whereas the music in the original BOI was so much better. It was haunting, chilling, remorseful, and it gave me goosebumps just listening to the title music. So thank you, for letting me have my original Isaac experience back.

For some reason,the depths' music is glitched for me.It plays the rebirth soundtrack for some time,then just switches to the classic soundtrack.Any help?

Just a great mod. There are so much of these out there but this has really everything there is!

Great Mod! By the way, if mac users are having any trouble installing mods, be sure to take all of the contents out of the folder after extracting it and putting it in the resource folder!

cause there is no hiding it Rebirth soundtrackis better than the first game people are just butthurt because it isn't made by Danny Baranowsky ( probably because he was doing Crypt of the Necrodancer )

Rebirth is better but im downloading to see if it even holds up a little to Rebirth cause come one people are butt hurt because the Music wasn't made by Danny Baranowsky and don't get me wrong Danny Baranowsky is great but with the fast paced gameplay of the binding of isaac rebirth it doesn't compare to the music by Ridiculon
