[REP/REP+] Just Lydia*
Adds a new character!
https://youtu.be/Vw6WMbsOH1g
* This was intended to be another full-package mod like my previous project, but due to a combination of Isaac burnout + newfound employment, I don't foresee myself finishing this one. Nevertheless, I couldn't just keep it all to myself!
* Additionally, not all of the mechanics/RNG get reverted by Glowing Hourglass, which I'm displeased with. I tried banging my head against the wall a few times to fix this, but it didn't really work out.
* While development of this mod will be indefinitely on hold, I'll still work on any other bug fixes if need be.
* So what features are missing?:
* All of that being said, there's still a handful of smaller odds & ends that I'd like to make, so you may see a couple more uploads from me in the future.
- Full Version
- Lydia Items
- Card Recyclers
- Completion Marks for ALL Modded Chars! or Repentogon
- External Item Descriptions or Encyclopedia
- MinimAPI
What if you could buy Secret Room items from Shops? Or get Angel items from beating bosses? A Library full of Devil items, perhaps? Or maybe, if you're extra lucky, Planetarium items straight from the Treasure Room! These and more can be yours when you play as Lydia, the character who replaces item pools!
To replace item pools, Lydia uses two new types of card-slot consumables that are exclusive to her: Gems and Sockets! There's a Gem for every item pool in the game, and there's also a Socket for every item pool. Essentially, a Gem represents "giving" an item pool out and a Socket represents another item pool "taking" it in. Use one followed by the other to make the switch!
(For example, if you wanted Angel items to appear in Treasure Rooms, you would use an Angel Gem to "give" that pool out, followed by a Treasure Socket to make that pool "take" it in.)
Gems and Sockets appear from all sorts of places throughout a run. Killing enemies, taking damage, beating bosses, buying items, performing Devil deals, and many more actions can yield a Gem or Socket. Wanna get cool items from Beggars? Give them some money, or blow them up, to see if you get a Beggar Socket! Or try to get the Guppy transformation, by opening loads of Red Chests to look for a Red Gem!
Notably, using a Gem/Socket makes it more likely for the opposite type of consumable to appear until a pool is successfully changed. Use this to your advantage, and you can make all sorts of combinations!
In case you lose track, you can hold down the map button to see a pair of cycling icons above Lydia's head, showing the replacements that have been made so far. Gems on the left, Sockets on the right.
Lydia also starts with the Pay to Win trinket + an absorbed copy of Silver Dollar, to keep the fun going!
