Balance Angel Rooms with Devil Rooms

This modest balance tweak is designed to make Angel Rooms a more viable option compared to Devil Rooms. Now, remade for Afterbirth.

Why? I find that I greatly prefer Devil Rooms to Angel Rooms most of the time. Though both item pools have some great items available, I tend to get more and better items by taking Devil deals than by avoiding them.

By making Angel Rooms more useful as an alternative to Devil Rooms, I hope to add more variety in how runs proceed, and to get more use out of the interesting items available in the Angel Room pool.

This mod is not designed to make Angel Rooms stronger than Devil Rooms. I want both options to be fun and useful.

The Tweaks:

1) Modified Item Pool. Stigmata, Blood of the Martyr, Jesus Juice, and Purity were added. Dead Sea Scrolls and Lazarus' Rags were removed (these items are still available in the Item Room pool).

2) Modified Room Layouts. All Angel rooms now include an item. Many rooms also provide some other benefit, such as soul hearts or keys.

3) In the interest of balance, an Imp was removed from one specific Devil Room layout, where it spawned at the top of the room. This could lead to immediate damage if the player enters from the top. Devil Rooms are otherwise unaltered.

Errr...does this mod add Angel Statues to any Devil Rooms, because I just ran into an Angel statue in a Devil Room. I fought it after taking a deal and it didn't drop a key piece. ....Bizarre.

You can do that, just make sure you include attribution and a link to the original in your description. I'm sure there are others who would be interested in a merged version.

You are my hero, i've lost at least two run from this damned imp thank you a lot for killing it. Also, seems like an interesting idea, coming from someone who tried to go to mega satan with the lost by beating angels, the angel rooms were REALLY not worth anyting, ended up doing it with a card instead so this may get my interest for these rooms up again.
I think this mod is the reason i have "1001%" This made getting the key pieces way easier then just cheating it with a players.xml so THANK YOU
Holy Water is still in the Angel Pool?

I suppose it isn't a good idea to mix this with other mods? (like the Heretic mod?)
No, any mod that modifies the Angel Room (i.e. almost any overhaul mod) won't work with this. Texture mods, sound mods, etc. are completely fine though.

Regarding the Heretic mod, I ripped this information straight from it:
"Does it [Heretic] work with [mod x]?
Depends. It won't work with other overhaul mods or mods that modifies rooms. Don't replace any of the .xml files as they're very dependent on each other. It works with visual/sound changing mods."
Ah, that's very disappointing. That mod makes angel rooms more frustrating too. :p
I am hyped for this mod.

Hopefully with this I'll finally be able to legitimately beat Mega Satan with the Keeper!
If I were you, I would feel rather cheaty using mods to get an unlockable but whatever floats your boat.
If I solely cared for the unlockables I could also just download a 1001% save file.

The point is that defeating Mega Satan with or without this mod is still a legitimate challenge and, consequently, an achievement in and of itself. Though the actual reason I downloaded this mod is that Angel rooms really are inferior compared to devil rooms, which is sad since because of that I simply ignore a part of the game the developers spent time on implementing. Which is something this mod attempts to fix.

Don't come in assuming the only reason I download [a] mod is to bypass how the developer planned the game's progression - doing that is stupid. Obviously, the point of modding is to enhance my own enjoyment of the game simply by changing up some aspects of it.
