PSA: THE MOD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH AFTERBIRTH+. YOU MUST REMOVE IT TO PLAY PROPERLY. I WILL TRY TO UPDATE IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.


This mod gives clear explanation of what each item does. It covers every item, trinket, pill, tarot card in the game (currently discovered, at least).

NOTE: Any patch could break compatibility with this mod. I will try to keep this up-to-date, but if your game crashes after an update, consider removing the mod and retrying.

- Fixed wrong description for "Friends Till the End" pill

- Added compatibility with Jan21 patch

- Added compatibility for Dec07 patch. No changes to the mod itself.

- Added last missing description (Golden Horse Shoe)

- Added compatibility with Nov19 patch

- Added descriptions for Rib of Greed and Karma

- Golden Horse Shoe is the only non-confirmed description remaining

- Added currently confirmed effect for Stud Finder

- Added compatibility with Nov 13 patch. This introduced 2 new items (Mega Blast and Store Key) that will be updated as soon as their effect is fully discovered.

- Added description for some new pills that I forgot in previous release. Now there's everything that's currently known

- Stud Finder's effect is currently unconfirmed

- Corrected some descriptions of older items that slightly changed with Afterbirth

its good if you don't have afterbirth+ that tells you what you got, but if you do have afterbirth+ its sorta useless but i don't so its good for me

I'm not planning to support other unofficial content with my mod. I will see what I can do about Afterbirth+ once it's out, though.

Cool! I think adding the exact description of the effects the item does is great! Instead of just giving you a extremely vague riddle you need to work with or find out yourself, it tells you soon as you get the item! Great!

Yes, this works ONLY in Afterbirth. There is a separate version working with Rebirth.
It's all written in the description, btw.

Would you be interested in uploading another version that has item descriptions + no charge time for items? Or if I could use your item descriptions one and modify it to do that then upload it? Don't just wanna steal yours. o.o

Your mod is great and since it didn't exist before it has every right to be on this site.

Is it me or does the description for some items changed since the update ? Could you please put the old back ? (like tech.2 not saying it's a 35% damage down)

Nope, nothing's changed in the description. The latest update only added "Fiends till the end" to pocketitems.xml

I wish there was a way to make it still display the title of pills when picked up, but other than that this mod delivers exactly what I hoped for! Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, since pills don't have a description the only way to describe them is to change their name.

I'm not trying to point fingers at you for the problem, but it's just a small problem that I have with the game overall. Consumable item descriptions were a good feature in the first game ("I Found Pills: And Ate Them" for example).

Somehow there is a bug with the Store Key, after i unlocked it with the Keeper, everytime i try to start a new run it crashes.
I changed the names of the files to see which one is causing the problem.

Seems like the Trinkets unlocked by the Keeper aren't in the file (Store Key, Rib of Greed, Karma)

To fix it, copy this in the items.xml
If you want it in order, put it under the Golden Horse Shoe:

Those changes are included since version 1.4! You should always download the latest version (now 1.5) before pointing out bugs

Hey man i love your mod but would like to use another mod with it the undertale mod replaces a few item im not asking you to add descriptions to those but can you make a compatibilty mod so that i use the descriptions for the other items?

Unfortunately there's no way to make a compatibility mod. You should manually merge the two "items.xml" files.

It has an advantage... And an inconvenient.
The advantage is that it's much more useful for the player to see what "something" does "that"...
The inconvenient is that it breaks the mystery of all the game.

True that it does get rid of the mystery as to what item does what but after you play the game for a while your memory is really tested. Overall i dont think it has a down side except not getting to see a little caption or pun after you pick up an item.

Honestly, I don't really know. I suppose you need to manually merge the changes you're interested in with a text editor since you can't obviously have two items.xml
